How to become a reviewer
Create an account and tick “Reviewer” for the journals that match your field, then add your areas of interest to your profile. Editors invite reviewers based on these interests.
Responding to an invitation
- Read the abstract in the invitation email.
- Accept only if the topic is in your expertise and you have no conflict of interest.
- Decline promptly if you cannot review, so the editor can invite someone else.
Writing a helpful review
- Assess originality, methodology, clarity and the strength of the conclusions.
- Separate comments for the authors from confidential comments for the editor.
- Be specific, constructive and respectful.
- Recommend a decision: accept, minor revisions, major revisions or decline.
Ethics and confidentiality
Manuscripts under review are confidential. Do not share them, do not use their content, and do not upload them to AI tools. Tell the editor about any suspected misconduct.
